SAMSBL is a league of adult amateurs who play baseball (real hardball) in age divisions of 18 & over, 25 &
over, 35 & over, 45 & over, and 55 & over. The SAMSBL is a member of the national organization known as the Men's Senior Baseball
League/Men's Adult Baseball League (MSBL/MABL). The league is for men who love the
game of baseball. SAMSBL is in its second decade of existence. We have tryouts once a year in February. We all pay to play from
mid-March until August for league games (about 21 games) on weekends. Tournaments are extra and usually occur over the major holidays
throughout the summer. The grand finale is the National
World Series in Phoenix, AZ during October.

The 48+ Yankees won the City Championship for the 3rd time in the last 5 years when they played the Cubs.
In the double elimination tournament, the Yankees had the advantage of no losses against the Cubs' one
loss. The Cubs won the first game 7-6, but lost the "what if" Championship game 19-5.

Larry Born, 48+ Cardinals, suffered a massive heart attack last week. He required a triple bypass procedure which has
not gone well. His surgery has consumed many units of blood. The one thing we can all do is to give blood to help
replenish the supply of this very valuable commodity. Larry was one of the first left-handed catchers in our league.
08/22/2006
A former manager decided to create and recruit for a competing league. He will publish details somewhere for all to know. This
brief statement is not an endorsement. Rather, just the opposite. Current league members can choose where they wish to play
baseball. It may look like ours, but it is not MSBL. Should you leave this league and follow him, you will not be permitted back
in the SAMSBL. So, choose wisely.

| League Vote - Wood Bat |
|
The results of the wood bat vote has been tallied. Several different counters of the ballots verified the following
announcement: With only 21.3% of League members participating, the Wood Bats Only League was voted down by a margin
of 3.5 to 1. 27 said YES and 81 said NO. For 2007 and beyond, you will have a choice of baseball-approved wood
bats or metal no ligther than -3. We will have a Summer League commencing in late May that will be a Wood Bat
Only League for those who choose to use wood bats.
