SAMSBL is a league of adult amateurs who play baseball (real hardball) in age divisions of 18 & over, 25 & over, 35 & over, 45 & over, and 55 & over.  The SAMSBL is a member of the national organization known as the Men's Senior Baseball League/Men's Adult Baseball League (MSBL/MABL). The league is for men who love the game of baseball. SAMSBL is in its second decade of existence. We have tryouts once a year in February. We all pay to play from mid-March until August for league games (about 21 games) on weekends. Tournaments are extra and usually occur over the major holidays throughout the summer. The grand finale is the National World Series in Phoenix, AZ during October.

Coronado High School Cougars visit San Antonio
Coronado High School Cougars

Here is the Coronado High School Cougars Varsity Baseball Team out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Head Baseball Coach Russ Jaffe, a long time member of the SAMSBL (on left in red shirt), brought his team to SA during their Spring Break. They came to practice outdoors and use 3 of our facilities including Sanchez-Spencer Field. The weather co-operated by being dry the entire week they were here. Russ played on the National Champions 38+ Missions in 2006. His players (and some parents) got to see his place on Championship Wall at Sanchez-Spencer. It was a proud few minutes for everyone that Monday morning.

Summer League and Tournament News

We will have a huge 14th Alamo Classic Labor Day Tournament August 29 thru September 1. The cost will be $60.00 per player with 15 players minimum for each team. This tournament will directly conflict with a tournament being held in Houston. Houston was supposed to have its tournament during the July 4th weekend but opted not to do so. We will have 5 Age Divisions with 18+, 25+, 35+, 45+, and 55+. Each Age Division, except the 18+, can have only two players under that age by no more than 2 years (i.e, 33 with the 35+), but said players can not pitch at all. Deposits of $500.00 or more are due by June 9, 2008. Deposits are not refundable. The sooner the deposits are received, the better chance of getting your schedule request. Expect to play at St. Mary's Univeristy, University of Incarnate Word, Texas Lutheran University, University of Texas, San Antonio, Schreiner University, Texas State University, (maybe Trinity University), Alamo Heights Stadium, Wagner High School, Lackland AFB, and Sanchez-Spencer Stadium. Wolff Stadium might be available on a limited basis. Our San Anotnio Missions have their last home stand that same weekend. We can host 50+ teams.

Expect 4 games in a round-robin format (weather permitting) with a tie-breaker and point system to determine who plays in the Championship games on Monday, September 1. Call 210-302-8228 for more information.
